~Taiwan~ ok....updates all at once..... haha....we arrived at our hotel in the afternoon.....and while preparing to go out, we saw these few signs....i know we shouldnt be laughing but we can't help it!
near the bathtub...
on the toilet seat...
above the toilet bowl....
The first day was crazy.... we set out to go to this big shopping mall and guess what? we alighted at the wrong stop cuz ra mixed up the names of the station!! (ok can't blame her, they all sound chinese...) And we even approached the control station guy to ask for directions and he didnt know the english name of the mall i was refering to and i had no idea wat the chinese name for the mall is...so yeah....it was pretty traumatizing...haha.....only then i asked ra if she had mixed up and she went ,"gasp!!! opps...."
Then when we finally went to the right station, we still had to take a bus to the mall.... omg....tats the worst part-buses....its all in freaking chinese!!! plus, though they write out the stops but they're only street names and not the landmark or the building itself.... thinking back now, i dun even know how the hell i manage to get us there.... it was quite quiet for a 12 story mall.... we had dinner, walked around for a bit and went home cuz we're like so tired....oh and we bought starbucks and it was almost half the price compared to singapore....we also ate one of these corndogs thingy.... love it....
day 2 was a guided tour. our tour guide was so chatty i think he talks a little too much....at one point we kinda fell asleep.... yikes...haha... though it was guided, it was pretty tiring as well cuz we had to keep going up and down the bus..... i think the only interesting thing is probably the hot spring and the shilin night market....
day 3- we decided to go to dan shui. luckily the weather was good...in fact, it was really sunny and hot....we wanted to go to fisherman's wharf and so we had to take a bus from the mrt in.... we hopped on the bus and i really had no idea where to stop cuz the screen on the bus tat displays the stop was faulty....we alighted at the wrong stop, somewhere in the middle b4 our destination....so we thought of walking in....cuz an aunty told us it was "just over there...about 10 mins away".....but alas!!!we were wrong...if there's one thing i learnt there, in a hard way, it would have to be this..... she wasn't refering to 10 mins on foot....it was 10 mins on a scooter!!! cuz like everyone rides a scooter.... omg.... in the end after walking so much we decided to take a bus again....luckily we did....it was far.....
guess who we bumped in to at dan shui? the chatty tour guide!! actually, thank god we bumped into him....he was with another tour grp.... and he was telling us where to tour in dan shui....and he even directed us to a night market which we would definately have missed had we not met him.... the night market was pretty fun...ate street food like smelly toufu, corn dog (again), crispy chicken etc...and we ate this super duper tall ice cream like 40cm? and we waited for the sunset as the tour guide said was a must-watch in dan shui.... we went back to shilin that night for some crazy crazy shopping....
sunset...
these toys are super easy to catch... it only like 50 cents per try and the uncle actually opens the machine and place the toy so near the edge that you can definately catch it....within 1 or 2 attempts....

finally, oyster omelette!

day 4 was in ximending.....there was nothing much though....juz stuff to see but nothing much to buy.... but there was this really cool starbucks though...it was like 3 storeys high.... super comfy and relaxing....they should have one like tat in singapore.....

their liquid sugars are individually packed....

finally,not-so-fantastic beef noodles b4 leaving for the airport....
i guess though the trip was a little tiring, i can say we experienced taiwan in a way....the whole getting-lost-finding-our-way thing was part of the fun part as well...including reading maps, looking out for signs (in chinese!!!),getting on the right train, right bus etc....beats taking a cab everywhere....
I'll play for you.
